Hunters are in Delhi for long, enter in the semis, won against Delhi Acers 5-2
The 2017 edition of the premier badminton league will get underway in the capital of india-Delhi- on Thursday. The opening day of the Delhi leg saw the hosts, the Delhi Acers took on Hyderabad Hunters.
The first match was the men’s singles contest between Siril Verma of Acers and Sameer Verma of Mumbai Rockets. The first set saw Hunters’ Verma got an early lead of 6-3 at the break of the opening game but Acers’ Verma leveled up and got a lead. Siril won the set. Both the players played delightful rallies. Sameer started the second set strongly with a lead of 6-1 at the break of the second set and went on to won the set. Sameer continues his form in the third set, dominated it and won the game 8-11, 11-3, 11-2.
The second match was mixed doubles between Satwik SaiRaj/Chau Hoi Wah of Hunters & Ivanov/Gutta of Acers. The first set and second set was dominated by Satwik SaiRaj/Chau Hoi Wah terrific smashes. The well coordinated Hunters won the game in straight sets 11-3, 11-4.
The third match was the men’s singles contest between Jorgensen of Acers and Rajiv Ouseph of Hyderabad Hunters. This was the trump match for Delhi Acers. The first set saw Acer with a consistent lead and winning the set by 11-5. The Dane continues his form in the second set and got a straight win 11-5, 11-7 and Acer’s won their trump match with terrific smashes.
The fourth match was women singles Carolina Marin of Hunters against N Jindapol of Acers. Marin started the first set with a lead of 6-1 at the break of the opening game, Jindapol attempted a comeback and made it to 14-14. Marin won by a narrow margin. Both the shuttlers were sweating it out to win the match for their team but Marin won the second set and ended at 15-14, 11-4 . This was the trump match for Hunters and they got it right. By the win of this game, Hunters succeeded in going to the semifinals.
The fifth match was men doubles Heong Tan/Kiong Tan of Hunters and Ivanov/Sozonov of Acers. The first set was tight but Tan/Tan won it by 11-9. The Malaysians finished the proceedings with a thumping victory 11-9, 13-11. Hunters clinched the tie against Acers.
