Chennai Smashers overcame Bengaluru Blasters 5-0.
The first day of the Mumbai leg saw Chennai Smashers who lost their first match on Sunday to take on the Bengaluru Blasters, who will be desperate for their maiden win in the competition.
The first match was the men’s singles contest between P Kashyap of Chennai Smashers and S. Verma of Bengaluru Blasters. Kashyap showed his class by placing some excellent smashes. The last set is completely dominated by Kashyap and won a straight set by 11-8, 11-5.
Armed with the presence of Rio Olympics silver medallist Sindhu, the Chennai Smashers will look to win their second match on the trot as she met the Bengaluru Blasters’s Cheung Yi Mumbai on the third day of PBL season2. This turned out to be a neck-to-neck battle but the match goes in the favor of Sindhu. This turned out to be a Trump match victory for Chennai Smashers which gave them a 3-0 lead.
The third game Gabby/Chris made the first game their own with a comfortable win. Seong/Ponnapa started the second set strongly and won the game by 11-8. The third set saw an early lead from Seong/Ponnapa but the match turned out to be a total roller-coaster and headed to a golden point moment. The match ended in favour of Adcocks and score read out as 11-6, 8-11, 15-14.
The fourth game was supposed to be an interesting game of Mens Single between Tommy Sugiarto and Axelsen. The first started with an exciting note where Axelsen took the first game at 11-7. Tommy showed agility and deception but Axelsen with his smashes got the straight win by 11-7 & 13-11.
The fifth game where Smasher’s Pieler/Adcock won Blaster’s trump match Sung Hyun Ko/ Yoo Yeon S. A thriller match. The score read out as 11-7, 7-11, 13-11, this results in another 5-0 in PBL Season2.
