Warriors mauls Hunters 5-0 in pbl clash

It is, however, the evening session that will be the cynosure of all eyes. The Awadhe Warriors vs Hyderabad Hunters showdown will be highlighted by a much-awaited Saina and Marin clash that promises to be enthralling.

The first match was the men’s singles contest between Vincent of Awadhe Warriors and S. Praneeth of Hyderabad Hunters. The 24-year old S. Praneeth narrowly missed out Vincent, losing 13-11, 6-11, 11-13 to Hong Kong Shuttler, Vincent in the opening match of day 2 and gave the warriors their first win and put them in the lead. Both the shuttlers were sweating it out to win the match for their team. Vincent was the better shuttler of the day even though Praneeth had an upper hand.
The second match was the women’s singles contest between Saina  Nehwalof Awadhe Warriors and Carolina Marin of Hyderabad Hunters. Marin had a close win in the first set, kept viewers on the edge of the seat. This was the first match of this season which saw the 15 point decider rule of PBL. Marin completely dominated the second set and won the women singles tie of the day and draw level in the tie.
The third match kicked off with mixed doubles pair Savitree Amitrapai and Bodin Issara of Warriors and Wah and Satwik of Hunters. This was the trump match for Warriors. Savitree who has a debut in PBL season 2 put on a powerful  display. Savitree/Issara survived a stern examination by hunter’s Wah/Satwik and two points for their team with a 11-9, 12-10 victory. The tie score is 3-1.
The fourth match was the crucial men’s singles tie between Kidambi of Awadhe Warriors and Ouseph of Hyderabad Hunters. Kidambi took an early lead against Ouseph in the first set and then Ouseph came from behind to clinch the game by 13-11. The second and third set saw a frenetic finished in favour of Kidmabi by 7-11, 13-11 but Ouseph gave a strong performance.
 The fifth match was the mixed double’s tie between ShemGoh/ Kido Wee of Warriors and Kiong/Heong of Hunters. This match was the trump match for the hunters. Kiong/Heong took the first game by 11-7. The Kiong/Heong fought till the very end but couldn’t prevent the ShemGoh/ Kido Wee from clinching a close win by 11-7, 8-11 and 13-11. Hunters lost their trump match and came down to 0-5 against Warriors.
