Prakash Padukone’s favourite Lakshya Sen, to watch out for.
A 15 years old Lakshya Sen from Uttarakhand hills has followed the footsteps of Aditya Joshi and Siril Verma to take the top spot in junior rankings.
Lakshya is from a small town of Uttarakhand called Almora. His father is a coach with the Sports Authority of India and his brother Chirag, older by a couple of years, is also among the top juniors in the country and had reached the second spot in the world rankings earlier.
Lakshya joined the Prakash Padukone academy at the age of 10. Since he was 11, OGQ has supported him.
On Dec 2016, his BWF ranking has seen a drastic change from 1391 to 383. Since then there has been no looking back for him. And now he achieved the World No. 1 ranking in the latest BWF World junior ranking. Lakshya, who is considered as one of the brightest future prospects in the Indian badminton circuit, moved ahead of Chia Hao Lee of the Chinese Taipei, to attain the World no. 1 ranking.
His journey so far,
- He clinched the Under-15 title.
2) He clinched the Under-17 title at the National Junior Badminton Championships in Jaipur.
3) He clinched the Under-19 title held at the Wimbledon tennis and croquet club. Lakshya was also a part of the Mixed team event at the Junior Asian Badminton Championships where he remained undefeated, winning all three matches that he was involved in.

In all of these tournaments, he played in a total of 56 sets in which he won 42 and lost 14 sets. Out of 42 sets, he won 24 with a huge margin and out of 14, he just lost 4 matches by a huge margin. The ratio of win to loss is huge which clearly shows his class and suffices what Prakash Padukone says, he is quick to grasp the finer points of the game.
Now he is working hard to fulfill his dream of winning the 2020 Olympics.
